Animals

Capturing a photo of a wild animal is such a thrill.  I have to be careful as I’ve caught myself saying “I love to shoot Bison, … or wild horses, … or whales.” Then I’m red-faced to explain that I only shoot wildlife with my camera! In New Hampshire I often see wild turkeys, deer, fox and waterfowl, but it’s when I travel to places like North Dakota, New Mexico, and Alaska that I’m able to take images of animals that I wouldn’t normally see at home. The most important aspect of photographing animals is distance. I don’t want to get mauled by a bear, or sprayed by a skunk so I’ve learned that distance and a long lens are my friends. Some of our national parks have such a wealth of wildlife and I think that it’s so special that we can travel to be able to watch these amazing creatures.
